Nanotechnology and other advanced and enabling technologies are having a massive impact across a very wide range of industrial sectors. Many opinion leaders believe that we need a firm technology and innovation base in the UK to move forward from a period of financial uncertainty towards renewed growth and competiveness globally.
While we all welcome better and innovative products, society also expects them to be cleaner, greener and safer at the same time. How can we achieve this delicate balance and still deliver innovation which is seen to be efficient and responsible? The UK and Europe have both developed voluntary codes intended to promote responsible innovation but which have failed to provide the practical support expected.
This key one-day Conference presents the outcomes of the European NanoCode Project, which has analysed options and developed tools and recommendations to promote responsible innovation, and also provides views from leading UK experts as to how we can best achieve solutions tailored to the UK’s innovation landscape.
Who should attend? Industry, researchers, funders, insurers, decision-makers, NGOs and all who are interested in responsible research and innovation.
